Split a PDF

Pull one contract out of a 200-page scan, or break a large document into manageable pieces. You can split into individual pages, into files of a set number of pages, or extract just the range you name — and get the results back as a zip if there's more than one.

Your file stays on this computer. There’s no upload button here, because there’s nowhere to send it. This tool runs inside the page you opened — like a calculator on a web page, it keeps working once it has loaded. How this works, and how to check it →

How to use it

  1. Choose your PDF file.
  2. Pick how to split it: one file per page, a set number of pages per file or a page range like 5-12.
  3. Click Split and download the results.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole tool is inside this page, so the work happens on your computer. There is no server to send it to. If you'd rather check than take our word for it: use the tool once, on a sample file, with the settings you want. Then turn off your wi-fi and do exactly the same thing again in that tab, without reloading. It still works, because everything it needs is already here.

How do I write a page range?

Use numbers and dashes, separated by commas: 1-5 takes the first five pages, and 1,3,7-9 takes pages one, three, seven, eight and nine. Pages are numbered from 1.

Does splitting reduce the quality?

No. Pages are copied across intact rather than re-rendered, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
